The annual "Leading BLACC Mason" Conference brings together students and professionals across the Pan-African diaspora at George Mason University while also providing and promoting leadership development and community unity for ages after.
This year we promote the message "Distant, but Connected". Our cultures and experiences are diverse and distant across the diaspora, and yet we are still united and connected under the Black experience for the prosperity and empowerment of our community. Putting that to the test quite literally this year, the first conference will be held virtually as attendees tune in from all over!
After this conference, attendees should...
Gain competency in ethical, empathetic, and culturally inclusive leadership and community development.
Identify several relationships and cultural nuances within the Mason community and the larger African diaspora.
Identify resources at George Mason that support social change, emotional health, sexual health, and physical health.
Gain competency in various areas for organization success such as leadership development, RSO competency, project management, and communication.
Learn about their approaches to decision-making, conflict resolution, and the variety of approaches that exists beyond their own.
